Sit Stand Desks

Get up! Stand Up! Brochure Request

It is now widely accepted that the amount of sitting we do is ruining our health. A recent survey found that many of us spend up to 12 hours a day sitting down. Our technology has made us the most sedentary humans in history. Yet the simple task of standing up for an extra 3 or 4 hours a day could reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Regular changes in the workplace can make long term improvements, and small changes, such as standing at your desk, can make quite a big difference to your health. With our range of products and services you can change the way you work forever, and you'll feel better for it too.

There's only so much we can show you on this web page. Firstly, why not have a look at our dedicated website: Sit Stand Workstations. The images above represent only a fraction of the sit/stand furniture we have available. We reckon we have one of the strongest and most diverse range of sit/stand furniture in the UK (including a custom and bespoke service). The Benefits of Standing

Standing up to work at a desk is not a new thing. In the 50's, Ernest Hemmingway preferred to write standing up and even advocated it. Sir Winston Churchill, would use nothing but a Standing Desk and would insist on standing whilst working – a conventional sitting workstation simply would not do. There is growing evidence to support that we are seriously damaging our health by being seated for so long. On average, standing up for three hours will burn 144 calories.
Standing has other benefits other than just physical. It can increase energy, boost creativity, and focus concentration. Larger organisations are taking this very seriously. Google has started rolling out sit stand desks across its London offices, with other companies implementing similar strategies. It is important that future office environments are designed to incorporate sit stand workstations to counteract the sedentary aspect of office life.
Researchers say the opportunities for sedentary behaviour in modern society such as watching TV, sitting in a car or using a computer are "ubiquitous". Of course, in modern society many people head to the gym for a burst of exercise to redress the balance. But a research team from the Diabetes Group at the University of Leicester says; while going to the gym or pool after work is better than heading straight for the sofa, spending a long time sitting down remains bad for you. What is clear is that anyone who spends lots of time sitting or lying down would benefit from replacing some of that time by standing or walking.
